UM and Orphazyme Announce Successful Phase II Trial of Arimoclomol in ALS Patients

Arimoclomol, a heat shock protein-based therapy, shows promise for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, based on the results of a phase II trial initiated and led by Michael Benatar, M.D., Ph.D., professor of neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The study showed the drug is safe and well tolerated, with preliminary evidence of efficacy.

DOCS Debuts New Electronic Medical Record Platform at Health Fair

The student-run Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Department of Community Service (DOCS) program debuted its new electronic medical record platform using the REDCap system at the Little Haiti Health Fair. Joshua Kronenfeld, executive director of DOCS, said changing from the paper records used successfully for 40 years was not easy, but it has significantly improved patient care.
